13th German Geoforum 2025 on November 11 and 12, 2025, in Berlin
“Georesources – Potential and Risks” is the title of this year’s 13th German Geoforum 2025, which will take place on November 11 and 12, 2025, in Berlin, at the representative office of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

TH Deggendorf uses eCognition in KIWA Project
According to the project description, KIWA (short for “AI-based forest monitoring”) is testing “innovative, intelligent, and digital methods for forest fire prevention.”
The project will run for three years, until the end of 2025, and is funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety.
[ui!] Urban Mobility Innovations GmbH and Quantum Systems GmbH are testing a method that uses special drone technology and AI to detect forest fires and assess forest health early on. On a scientific level, the project is being supported by the project partners: The Deggendorf Institute of Technology and the University of Bayreuth.
