Geospatial webinar on project of The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and Tama Group now online available

In this geospatial webinar Steve Schill (TNC) and Fritjof Lüthje (Tama Group) give “An introduction to automated feature extraction”.

The Nature Conservancy (TNC) works with governments and stakeholders to protect, restore, and monitor coastal and marine habitats throughout the Caribbean. Baseline maps are greatly needed to understand the extent, condition, and change of these habitats. Using eCognition TNC has teamed up with value-added Tama Group to develop a highly sophisticated rule set for automated feature detection of shallow benthic habitats using spectral, depth, and geomorphic zone data. The product represents the highest resolution and consistently mapped benthic habitat product for the Caribbean Basin.

Tama Group at Trimble Dimensions, November 5 – 7, 2018 | The Venetian – Las Vegas, Nevada

Current and high-quality information about the status of building roofs & facades are essential for driving maintenance and operational cost for these buildings down. This session covers how Trimble eCognition technology was applied for a big Real Estate & Facility Management Provider in Germany to assist them in broadening their building maintenance services offerings. We introduce how adverse changes in building facades, such as cracks and permanent dirt can be quickly mapped. We also introduce how this approach helps municipalities in Northern Europe to identify illegal building changes quickly. We conclude the session with an evaluation of achieved accuracies and changes to existing workflows.
Key Objectives
1) Identify how data quality and photogrammetric processing influence ambiguity
2) Compare the aerial/UAV measurement approach with classic methods
3) Calculate the potential benefits of this new methodology

You can have a look at the Catalog and  lock in to my session here.

Looking forward to seeing you.

LidodiLicola_AUG17_example03_previewDetection of waste density out of VHR-Satelite-Data

Seas and oceans of the world are more and more exposed to flotsam in form of litter and waste. There are a kind of hotspots where such flotsam is washed back onto the shore and accumulates to mountains of rubbish. Using high resolution satellite data (GSD ~ 30cm) you can detect such hotspots of  waste accumulation.

Tama Group introduces a monitoring service to provide information about the potential density oft the accumulations in the respective beach section. The satellite images are analyzed according to specific criteria and examined for certain items characterized for example by texture, color differences to their surrounding and spatial references.

Information extraction from LiDAR and RGB Data

Mapping cities is deemed to be one of the most challenging tasks in the automated analysis of image data, as urban areas are composed of highly complex spatial and spectral structures. The extraction of up-to-date land cover and land use information for large urban areas requires high spatial resolution imagery and data of different types and enables a detailed and cost-efficient mapping basis for an optimized management of cities. In this context, the eCognition software provides an excellent basis for the comprehensive analysis of different data, making use of a variety of implemented methods.

Tama Group presents an application for detailed extraction of certain features by synergistic analysis of optical imagery and LiDAR data.

City signature based on LiDAR Data

Aerial point clouds recorded by LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) sensors provide valuable information about the earth’s surface, including the signature of cities. Frequently, LiDAR data are analyzed in combination with optical imagery in order to perform precise city mapping. For various reasons of data limitation this isn’t always possible.

Tama Group offers an application for extraction of objects in a city, based solely on laser scanning point clouds.
