Tama Group eCognition User Conference 2022 – 29. Juni 2022 in Gräfelfing, Munich

In remote sensing, too, the ‘cloud’ is increasingly becoming the central location for storing and processing geodata. We want to shed light on this topic in this year’s User Conference in connection with eCognition. We approach our topic “eCogntion – Up to the Cloud?” with keynote speeches from three different perspectives. We continue with an international panel to discuss methods and applications. Here, too, we cover a wide range and show examples of eCognition use.

We look forward to you discussing all these exiting topics with us. There will be a mix of presentations in german and english language.

Participation in our eCognition User Conference is free of charge. If personal participation is not possible, we also offer the possibility to participate live via video conference. For more information and registration click here.

Tama Group at Trimble Dimensions, November 5 – 7, 2018 | The Venetian – Las Vegas, Nevada

Current and high-quality information about the status of building roofs & facades are essential for driving maintenance and operational cost for these buildings down. This session covers how Trimble eCognition technology was applied for a big Real Estate & Facility Management Provider in Germany to assist them in broadening their building maintenance services offerings. We introduce how adverse changes in building facades, such as cracks and permanent dirt can be quickly mapped. We also introduce how this approach helps municipalities in Northern Europe to identify illegal building changes quickly. We conclude the session with an evaluation of achieved accuracies and changes to existing workflows.
Key Objectives
1) Identify how data quality and photogrammetric processing influence ambiguity
2) Compare the aerial/UAV measurement approach with classic methods
3) Calculate the potential benefits of this new methodology

You can have a look at the Catalog and  lock in to my session here.

Looking forward to seeing you.

LidodiLicola_AUG17_example03_previewDetection of waste density out of VHR-Satelite-Data

Seas and oceans of the world are more and more exposed to flotsam in form of litter and waste. There are a kind of hotspots where such flotsam is washed back onto the shore and accumulates to mountains of rubbish. Using high resolution satellite data (GSD ~ 30cm) you can detect such hotspots of  waste accumulation.

Tama Group introduces a monitoring service to provide information about the potential density oft the accumulations in the respective beach section. The satellite images are analyzed according to specific criteria and examined for certain items characterized for example by texture, color differences to their surrounding and spatial references.

Information extraction from LiDAR and RGB Data

Mapping cities is deemed to be one of the most challenging tasks in the automated analysis of image data, as urban areas are composed of highly complex spatial and spectral structures. The extraction of up-to-date land cover and land use information for large urban areas requires high spatial resolution imagery and data of different types and enables a detailed and cost-efficient mapping basis for an optimized management of cities. In this context, the eCognition software provides an excellent basis for the comprehensive analysis of different data, making use of a variety of implemented methods.

Tama Group presents an application for detailed extraction of certain features by synergistic analysis of optical imagery and LiDAR data.

City signature based on LiDAR Data

Aerial point clouds recorded by LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) sensors provide valuable information about the earth’s surface, including the signature of cities. Frequently, LiDAR data are analyzed in combination with optical imagery in order to perform precise city mapping. For various reasons of data limitation this isn’t always possible.

Tama Group offers an application for extraction of objects in a city, based solely on laser scanning point clouds.

Tama Group provides an application that processes automatically photos taken by digital cameras. The application doesn’t only succeed in recognizing and classifying the road signs geometrically and spectral, but reaches as far as cataloging the road signs by enclosing the correct signification numbers.

To ensure the processing of high amounts of data the software provides the opportunity to pass of parallel on several servers. There are almost no limits regarding the scalability of this server-based processing.

Bodenradar_WebsiteInformation extraction from ground penetrating radar systems

The deployment of ground-penetrating radar systems has been growing over the last years. Using this technique, the shallow underground can be investigated without any mechanical excavation to detect any anomaly or to investigate the condition of subsurface elements. With the proviso not to disturb existing infrastructure, efficiently looking into its nearby underground is of special importance.
In order to process the GPR data the Tama Group provides an application that enables a fast and efficient information extraction for the user. The images are analyzed according to certain user-driven criteria and with the objective to extract distinct objects.

Estimation of car-density in city districts

The knowledge of actual car-density of certain districts is of high interest for many commercial, administrative but also humanitarian questions. The Tama Group has built an application to extract this information out of high resolution satellite image data. For an answer you get a clear and comprehensible statement about the density pattern in the respective city district.

Based on high degrees of automation and accuracy achieved, the Tama Group is able to answer a lot of commercial, administrative and humanitarian questions by her ways and methodes of automated information extraction.

Automatic measurement of canopy density

Automatic image analysis provides many opportunities of detecting snapshots for specific  features and thus represents developments and time processes in time series analyses. Forestry uses this for example in measurement of canopy density to get reliable and verifiable values about the actual state and the growth of the forest.
